RCI Action Group
Where we currently stand

Where we currently stand

In an effort to keep you in the picture we thought we’d let you know where we currently stand with the case.

In simple terms the legal teams on both sides are currently deep in discussion regarding ‘disclosure’. This is fairly ‘standard stuff’ for a case like this and it’s why progress always seems to take longer than expected. Although the trial window will now be put back until after April it won’t be too long after that … who knows it may never get to court if there’s a settlement agreed in advance.

Just to reassure all members, this is fairly standard practice and is to be expected considering the size of the case and the implications that it will probably have on the timeshare industry as a whole.

News from the industry

News from the industry

A new group has recently been set up called the MRL Action Group, which is designed with disgruntled customers of MacDonald Resorts in mind

It may be a slightly different action group working on a separate case but we still think that it's great news as it demonstrates that the pressure is building on the timeshare industry and as a result it’s becoming increasingly difficult for these resort operators to hide from justice. Litigation Management Limited (LML) who are managing the RCI Action Group, are also managing the MRL Action Group, so you will be familiar with the people involved.

The traditional attitude in the timeshare industry is that one or two unhappy customers are relatively easy to ignore, especially when you adopt the mantra ‘you can’t please all of the people, all of the time’. In addition, these individuals rarely have the sort of resources required for decent legal support. However when there are hundreds or even thousands of people grouped together, as in our case, then collectively they cannot be ignored, especially as some of the best legal representation is suddenly available to them as part of a much wider group.

We are aware that some of our RCI Action Group members will also qualify as members of the MRL Action Group and we would actively encourage those people to click through to www.mrlactiongroup.co.uk… who knows, people who are members of both action groups could end up receiving compensation for both problems when the cases are won.

Will we still have a timeshare obligation?

Will we still have a timeshare obligation?

Although we may have mentioned this before it is important that we reiterate that when the case is won (not ‘if’ in our opinion) there will be a pay out for you the members of the Action Group.

It will not remove your contractual obligation to your current timeshare agreement if you still have one. To do this you should look into an established timeshare disposal company.

Update on numbers

Update on numbers

As the trial window gets every closer we’re pleased to announce that the numbers in our group are steadily increasing. The good news is we’re now just under the 12,000 mark and with a few months still to go, there’s no reason why we can’t be hitting the dizzy heights of well over 15,000. The more members we have the more pressure there is on RCI when it comes to trial.

So if you do know of anyone that might be in the same ‘timeshare boat’ as you then make sure you mention it to them. Remember it’s completely free to join and they may well be in line for a significant pay out once the case is won.

Real stories from real people

Real stories from real people

We’re always on the look out for interesting stories about how you got in to your timeshare trap. Part of this campaign is to tell ‘real stories from real people’ all in an effort to expose just how the timeshare process worked … or rather how it didn’t work in the case of RCI.
